にゃんきっちゃん　(Nyankichi, My Dear Cat) / Nyankicchann

Are you a cat person? Do you own a cat as pet? Do you think your cat is the cutest in the world? Do you love your cat enough that you once dreamed about making photobook about your own cat?    If you have at least one “yes” in those question, you would like this book.  This is basically dedicated photobook of the Cat named Nyankichi and text are written to describe the situation of each photo.    Thus, this isn’t really a Children’s story book but rather documentary/Photobook of certain cat owned by the authors.     Here are the each page’s description. (Let me call this “Nyankichi” simply CAT here for simplicity)  

• CAT enjoying the sunshine 
• CAT is staring at the stuffed animal (bear) as if bear is not letting CAT pass by. 
• CAT is dozing off 
• CAT is in the cherry blossom as if he is hiding 
• CAT laying down on the porch and his belly is getting warmer due to sunlight. 
• CAT seems scared of the little frog on the porch. 
• CAT is on the fence and his tail is sagging down along the wall. 
• CAT is staring at the dragonfly flying above him. 
• CAT is inside the fallen tree leaves on the ground in the Autumn. 
• It is getting colder in Winter but CAT is still at the porch and not coming inside of the house. 
• CAT is walking on the snow field in Winter  

As you can see, it contains seasonal transition as story flow and it makes quite beautiful photo-book. Since my daughter loves cats, she reads this photo-book again and again and seems to love it.  At the very last page, Authors (married couple I assume) are writing notes as Appendix. It says “We consider this Nyankichi the cat as their family members. And just like when you take a photo of your children in the cutest-looking timing possible, we also try to capture the best expression moment of Nyankichi throughout this photo book”.   Those notes are written in Hiragana and thus all the readers can learn the true definition of “Family” from this book.
